Announcing the exhibition of Dorothy Stewart’s wood blockprints in Santa Fe.

On May 29, 2026, the Historic Santa Fe Foundation (historicsantafe.org) will host the opening of Carving the Southwest: The Artistry of Dorothy Stewart, featuring a comprehensive collection of Stewart’s woodblock prints depicting Old New Mexico, along with her oil paintings and works published through her Pictograph Press.

To introduce the collection, I will present a photo slideshow about her life on June 4 at the Eugene and Clare Claw Education and Research Center at 553 Canyon Road in Santa Fe. For further details, please visit my website, my Facebook page, or HSFF’s website.

The article below, recently published in the Historic Santa Fe Foundation magazine, offers a more in-depth look at Dorothy N. Stewart—whose life and work I explore further in my forthcoming book, Dorothy N. Stewart: Santa Fe Artist and Printmaker, to be published by McFarland in 2027.
